[Closed] Replacement fork for Commencal Meta HT24 junior MTB

Hi all,
Anyone got any recommendations to replace the dreadful forks on my son's 24" mtb for a small outlay if possible? This is the bike:

I was wondering if there are any commonly available quality forks that pop up used? Priority is having lighter weight I'd say, but open minded. We could switch to rigid forks potentially, although my soon-to-be-10 year old son obviously thinks springy forks are cool, even when they do absolutely nothing but add weight.

I bought this bike off a colleague at work for £300 last year on the basis that it was 'fully serviced' and ready to go.... I've since realised I didn't get a lot for my money as it was clearly not serviced anytime recently - just about everything worn out, even the DMR bearing pedals were grumbling. It was probably left out in the rain a lot. I should have checked it over properly. On the plus side, the wheels, brakes and tyres seem pretty decent and in good order, plus the frame, bars and seat are quite nice, so I think just about worth persevering with. I've had the forks apart and they were full of sludge/rust - fubar'd. So I think if I just get the forks replaced, we'll have a half decent junior mtb; but I don't want to spend a lot of money on a bike he'll probably be on for only one more spring/summer.
