Morning,

I just cant stand the creaking anymore. Looking to fit a XT crank and BB and swap out the awful Cannondale EBB, any recommendations ? Limited budget so looking for something cheaper than the Bushnell EBB if possible ?

Have you tried something like Loctite bearing retainer compound? It'll make it nigh on impossible to adjust but might keep the shell from creaking.

I have a Cannondale SS, great bike but the ebb isn’t great. However my issue is with it being a pig to adjust can’t say I’ve ever had the merest squeak out of mine over several years of winter filth.

I sand the inside of the frame and the outside of the ebb with a fine grade paper until they’re totally smooth. Then thoroughly degrease both with brake cleaner. Then a thin layer of copperslip on all the moving parts and wedges inside (taking care to get none on the outside) the ebb.

I also bought spare 4mm allen head bolts as they’re so vulnerable to rounding.

the above process may be worth a try. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had a SS29er, just be done with it and get a Bushnell - the Cannondale EBB is crap, the Bushnell just works

I'm pretty sure that ceeway, (framebuilding.com) has the original non-lightened bushnell BB's in stock. They'll be way cheaper than the fancy bushnells you get elsewhere.

Functionally identical, but a bit heavier
