A rock-shifter interface has caused the untimely destruction of my Zee shifter. Question is, is it worth upgrading to a better shifter? XT can be had for ~£28 and Saint for ~£35. Are either of those going to give a noticeably better shifting feel, rather than just getting another Zee for £20?
It's going to a Zee mech if that makes any difference, and XTR is out of my price range.
The Saint shifter is really good. I have one operating a Zee mech on my hardtail and another operating an SLX mech on my full-sus.
Just swapped a Zee shifter for a Saint and the Saint is much better
As above the action is all in the shifter
Zee = perfectly OK but Saint = better
Xt, miles nicer than the zee (which was horrid). I went from zee shifter and mech to xt shifter and zee mech. Worth the extra cash.
Another vote for the Saint shifter here.
My hardtail started off with a Zee shifter but the Saint one on the full sus was nicer to use. It didn't take long for it to be swapped.
I'd go Saint but tbh it's a matter of taste. Saint's the best shifter I've used by quite a bit, lovely positive clank-clank action. XT not so nice as Zee imo, better made but less feedback.
Another vote for saint here, just changed from zee at the weekend, well worth the extra money.
Saint is a great shifter
