Been trying to hunt down a replacement 40T chainring for a SRAM NX crankset.
On this bike: https://www.evanscycles.com/kona-dr-dew-2017-hybrid-bike-EV291779
Lots of 'page no longer exists' on the SRAM site...
94mm BCD *I think*...
Anyone care to recommend a replacement?
94mm BCD confirmed - also 11 speed.
Does the crank have a removable spider or is it part of the crank arm? If it's removable then you just need a SRAM direct mount chainring in place of the spider
No, not removable unfortunately...
Also potentially happy to sack off the SRAM cranks if it's this difficult - any recommendations for a decent 40T single ring crankset welcome!
I found that a superstar components raptor chainring worked for going to a single ring on sram 94 bcd cranks. Was slightly dubious that they claimed was both 94 ad 96 bcd compatible but took a punt when they had a sale and it did work.
This may be an option for you if you are willing to reduce your gearing slightly, looks like they only go up to a max of 36t in that model.
In the end though I just got a set of direct mount cranks from ebay because they looked neater and was needing to replace BB at same time. For your situation it looks like superstar do go up to 40t in direct mount chainrings so maybe an easier option long term option to get some cranks.
Or swap to road cranks? Depends how much stay clearance there is but there are loads of cheap cx chainrings on ebay now from china (Ive just bought one). Added bonus things like used 105 chainset are peanuts on eBay as there's people upgrading either to the newest version or up the range.
Thanks for the information chaps - leaning towards a new crankset at the moment. Had considered the road cranks option but was trying to avoid that if possible! Cheers all!
I have Praxis Cadet cranks on a gravel bike with a single ring from Absolute Black. Not overly expensive and aesthetically pleasing.
