Hi all,
My brakes are no longer working, and I figure its about time for an upgrade. Any suggestions on models for a 26" enduro machine?
Thanks
26" you say?
A G clamp and two stones operated manually in that case.

Oh OK, if I had to buy new brakes it'd be some sort of SRAM, they've almost got their act together these days and when they work they're really, really good.
Shimano Deore or slx or Xt
Deore 4 pots. Pretty cheap, decent power, take Saint pads but none of the variable bite point issues of other Shimano 4 pot brakes.

I'd probably get the Deore 4-pots (Rose bikes were cheapest a while ago).
But surely the jury's still out on this?

Personally I would avoid sram like the plague, came as Oe on my bike and I ended up swapping them for xt’s as have three of my mates, utter shite!

990 Euros the pair.
For cheap (ish) but powerful I’d be considering Guide RE’s / Deore 4 pots / Magura MT5’s.

With the additional upside that 26" will the next "new" big thing by the time they deliver

Hayes HFXs if you want to stay retro. Shimano Deore or SLX if you want brakes that work.

Quite a few people have been using them (including me) without any of those issues. Might be too early to say definitively, but I've not heard of any issues.

Good to hear, gonna get some for my SolarisMax when the time comes anyway.
IME the Shimano wandering bite point tends to come in after at least a few months' use, often more like a year.

Magazines were having issues with XT and Saints/Zees on short term tests - can't imagine they were running them for as long as a year.

I've recently bought a shimano four pot for the rear and a zee for the front. The zee just feels nicer/better than the rear brake, but both are good.
Contrary to a poster above I think Guides are great. Some RE's wouldn't leave you wanting more braking power for sure...
