Hi all,

So, I have a Boardman Comp FS 2010 in Large that I've owned since new.
Unfortunately the drive side lower chainstay snapped last year (see attached photos). As I've upgraded almost all parts over the years and the rest of the bike is in great condition I'm keen to try and get the bike functional again as I just don't have the funds to buy the bike I ultimately want to buy. I won't be in a position to buy a new one until earliest of next summer and I miss my MTB too much to wait that long!

So, on a long shot, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions or knows of a rear linkage section that might work with the geometry of this frame? Boardman have basically said 'no thanks' as they are worried other parts of the frame might have been affected but given I was on the bike when this snapped I'm willing to take the risk that there's an unseen weakness in the frame and not go crazy on it for the next year.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Unless you can source a rear triangle from somewhere I'd suggest just buying a 2nd hand hardtail frame and swap all the bits over.

You may be able to find an old carrera full sus frame of similar vintage. A riding buddy did the same thing. Bought the frame not knowing if it would work.. He was pleased to find out that it does.

As above though, you would be better off getting hold of a hardtail frame.

Have you tried contacting Boardman? contact@boardmanbikes.com

2010 may be a bit old but they used to sell rear tringles for their current bikes and may still have some in stock.

Edit - Sorry, I actually read your post this time and I see you have contacted them.

As above, a used hardtail frame to swap the parts to would be the cheapest way to get running again.

If your in the North West I might be able to help. I've the slightly newer version in large. It needs a rear mech, and I'd be taking bars and brakes off but everything else is there. Wheels are superstar/stans 26inch not original ones but it's yours if you want it. Sorry but I'm not posting

I had a 2009 that went in the same place although I spotted it before it had totally sheared off. I managed to get it repaired, I sprayed over it in black rattle can paint and carried on riding it and quickly forgot it was there.

These are great bikes, amazing that back in 2010 you could buy this complete bike brand new for £800!
