Hi guys,

I'm new on here, so nice to meet you all.

I got myself a 2nd hand orange 137 before Xmas and it came with a RS rev rc fork on it. I notice that the fork would use all of its travel regardless of the damper settings. After a YT binge I figure the internal spring had come away from its housing, easy fix.
Turned out not to be the case. Instead the rod traveling through the unit (the poker I believe) was bent out of shape at the lower end. There also debris from the broken unit inside the leg. I didn't want to deal with it there and then so put it back together and shelved it.
Looking now, I cannot find a replacement motion control unit thats in stock.

So my options now look like the charger RC2/RCT3 upgrade for like £360/£200, but then you've got the air spring, seals and oil on top of that too. Or, looking for a sub £500 fork on ebay.
(A replacement motion control unit would be the preferred choice at £75!!!)

Any opinions or insights are welcome

If it’s just a problem on the damper side there’s nothing you need to do to the air spring. All you do is effectively a lower leg service, throw away the MoCo parts, drop in a charger and go ride

Also, it’s spring rod in one side and a damper rod in the other. If your YouTube videos are talking about “pokers” then you might want to find some different videos 😉

I upgraded my Revelations, after advice on here, which only needed a service to RC2. They were 150mm 29. Somewhere in the garage it the motion control parts that was taken out.
I also have a 2 ride old set of 150mm 29 Revelation forks which were swapped out for some Fox 36s that will be going up for sale soon

Ah OK, this tech article called it a poker, I just rolled with it 😂 I understand the air spring is independent but was under the impression it was strongly advised to do it with the damper. But I'll take that as a cost saving win, thanks.

What length steerer do you need

CRC were punting oem revs out the other day for c£270. I think they’re fine forks but I wouldn’t be spending a lot on them if you can’t get the parts, I’d look for a second hand set of something or wait for someone like Tracey with bits in their garage to sell you what you need at a sensible price.

I have a new, unused, in the bag spare Motion Control damper for a 2018 Rev (bought for a Clockwork 129) that I’ll sell you for what I paid which is £45-50 (I need to check). Send me a DM if interested.

@superstu that's seems like a sensible answer, get a better base fork and upgrade later rather than upgrade a midrange fork now.
@Tracey I haven't a clue, the headtube is 110 but I haven't measured what the current steerer has been cut to.

The head tube they came off is 105mm and the steerer length is 160mm off the top of my head.

If you put your fork crown number in the Rockshox Trailhead app it should tell you what part numbers work with your forks. It might be easier to find the replacement parts if you search on the number ?

I am no expert, but suspect the length of the damper rod is important ?

The offer of the replacement Moco in the thread above from scuttler sound like a good option if it fits.

I wouldn't spend money on a charger damper. Go for the FAST up drop in unit instead or the moco on offer up there.

Thanks for your help guys, I think scuttler is going to help me out. Its the most cost effective option... until I can justify the more expensive ones at least.
