Any recommendations for a compatible MC damper for these forks? I have no idea how interchangeable these things are. They have 130mm travel (FS-SKTG-RL-B1), (2016 / 2017?). Or can I fix it? It seems to work but always in reverse; turning the lockout knob anticlockwise locks the forks out rather than vice-versa as it should be.

If I open the forks up and get to the motion control damper and prise out the little circular cap at the bottom that rotates to either cover or open the slots / holes, and then seat it back in the right place, it will work correctly for a few pumps of the fork but then shortly after it will revert to working so that the lockout control is reversed.

I wouldn't care about this reversal of the lockout control except that I noticed the nature of the shapes of the slots / holes at the bottom of the damper mean that it looks like it's possible for that circular cap to be located in such a way that the damper might never be fully open once the cap gets into the wrong orientation. I did just service the forks as the lockout function stopped working completely and the forks were permanently open, the service remedied this, but the lockout control reversed as usual after the service.

Don't know if it can be repaired but probably cheaper to buy a second hand fork. Something like a Rockshox Revelation are readily available and pretty cheap.

The MC damper can be repaired.  The little silver not-quite-half-moon thingy on the bottom has rotated so it is not out of phase with the dial.  I have had this in the past and just turned it with pliers back to the right place.

I've relocated the moon (gibbous?) thing twice now. Shortly after servicing it reverts to being out of phase. Last time it lasted a few minutes of riding, this time it lasted only a few test pumps of the fork. I saw the spine of it is fluted, presumably those are worn or the thing it locates into no longer grips the flutes. Maybe I can ask RockShox for one.

I am considering just replacing them. They have a dent in the lowers which isn't massive but is big enough to have rubbed off a little of the anodising at the bottom of the damping side's stanchion.

I don't know much about forks though. I think I'd be better off getting a boost size and potentially replacing the front wheel or using adaptors (it's a 2015 bike, 27.5" wheels), I don't know if I need to stick to the particular travel the bike was designed for (130mm), or if I could get a larger travel fork and reduce the travel. I did see some Revelations on eBay but the steerers had been cut too short.
