Hi ,anyone repainted a carbon frame, what's best way to remove the paint?
It's an utter bitch of a job. Wet & dry and lots and LOTS of care, attention and time.
I looked into it very closely and did loads of research and backed out of the idea.
There is something called carbolift but it has limited effectiveness.
Sent mine to a bloke in Yorks who soda blasted it back to bare carbon

I can believe it too. There is supposed to be a layer of epoxy over the carbon though.
I would strongly suggest no one blasts a carbon frame with any media unless they really know what they are doing as it needs to be very lightly done.
Guy in Edinburgh was investigating the soda blasting route. Ronde, a bike shop, were looking at.
I know the firm I sent it to specialise in carbon in fact they do it for lots of companies they dip it also in a fluid which can strip epoxy from epoxy providing they know what it was painted with, don't ask me how I just know mine came back ready to be painted even the fairing was intact
