Just picked up a Rental Apex stem (50mm), and looking for a way to mount my Garmin. I think I've narrowed it down to either a Bar Fly 3.0 or a K-Edge Gravity Cap, but having trouble deciding.
The Gravity Cap looks a much neater solution, however I'm not sure how I'd get on with the Garmin being so far back from the bars.
Is anyone else using one of these combo's and have any feedback?? Cheers.
I feel there's something inherently wrong with 'out in front' mounts on MTB's for some reason so use a Gravity cap on my trail bike in conjunction with a Gamut 50 mm stem.
Looks a bit goofy with an 810 on it but works well and if you're not using the Garmin it's nicely discreet.
Another option is the Stem mount that goes on a stem stacker above your stem, use this on the hardtail and it works well.
Thanks @hatter - I already have one of those adjustable mounts, however I'd need to put a 10mm spacer under it to get the clearance with the Apex. Was playing around with it last night, and just couldn't get it to play nicely.
Hmm, that's a shame, they work well with most stems. I've seen a guy with a 35mm stem running one of them backwards and tilted down so it hugs the back of the stem, looked like a bit of a knee hazard IMHO but horses for courses.
Gravity cap works well and solves the problem, the Garmin itself just looks a bit perched when it's on there, entirely an aesthetic objection TBH.
I had a gravity cap, managed to whack my knee on the garmin and break it off when I came off the bike. I went back to a extended stem mount type so at least the computer was mounted over the stem/bars.
