I can afford and justify the Asgard Access for 29ers, (having spent several multiples of that on a MTB).

I'm a bit concerned about ease of storing my 29er Enduro/Trail MTB in the store.

The specs say it is 1120mm internal height at the front and 1320mm, and is 910mm deep by 2230mm wide.
Now, my MTB is 2000mm long and at the tallest is 1150mm, with 800mm bars! I really dont want to be loosening the stem to turn the bars after every ride. I also need to store 2 road bikes and an old 26er (and maybe a kids bike too if it'll fit).

Anyone got any experience of fitting a modern biggish 150mm suspension MTB in an Asgard Access 29er, or can offer alternatives or other advice. Am i being paranoid about security? or maybe I should sleep with it in the bedroom and be done with it!!

Its a shame they dont do one just a little bigger, as I have spare wheels and tyres and tools to store also!!

Regards

While I'm not going to advertise on a public forum exactly whether I have an Asgard 29'er size shed, nor how many bikes I would keep it it if I did (I could be up to 5)....

If one were to have some many bikes in the store that packing became tight, it can be much easier to remove a pedal or two and drop the front wheel than to turn the bars.

If you drop the wheel of the 29er they’ll all fit. Might need to do the same to the 26er depending on the bars.

I'd be surprised if it’s a real problem, my large size commencal meta tr29 goes in our 29er Asgard comfortably.

Edit, it’ll take the Meta plus 2 road bikes without any messing with handlebars, I also get in an old 26” stump jumper ht with the bars twisted and front wheel off behind the commencal.

OK, many thanks for your inputs - sounds like dropping the front wheel out would solve it if really necessary. Cheers

Personally I'd never store a bike outside, not unless the box resembled a WW2 pillbox, with an iron door.

Theres always threads on here and other bike forums about stolen bikes and most of the time its 'Taken from the shed or garage '

Theres options for storing inside the house, be that on a high stand or even on a wall. So i would think given the cost and heartache of having one stolen, it would be prudent, given cycling is a full time hobby for most here, that the flat or house needs be rearranged to accommodate the bike.

Mine lives in the hall of my flat, and the wheels impede on the kitchen and bathroom doors, but i can squeeze through and it rather that that worry about it being outside and vulnerable while im asleep

Gy....thieves... are as experienced in breaking into secure sheds as you are as eating your cornflakes in the morning. They have all the tools and know how to set about getting in quickly and without fuss.

I agree with Dyna ti

My bikes live in my flat and would never be stored outside no matter where I lived.  I have put in a wall anchor and a stand in the bottom hallway that I use if the bike is going to be used again in a few hours but otherwise?  Every bike is carried up 104 stairs and is in the flat behind 3 locked doors

Height at the front of my Asgard was a little tight to clear the grips on my bikes with longish travel until I removed the supplied floor and stuck some cheap Halfords tiles in.  A small thing but made a useful difference as the wooden floor was taking up two or three inches of height

In short, don’t bother with their floor it robs space

Easy when you live yourself, with 3 folk in a 2 bed and 8 bikes in the house it's the loft or a shed.

I have one on order so intersted in these comments. Be warned, there's something like a 3 month back order at the minute. It's very well tested and in my case, someone trying to prize a sheet steel box open beneath our bedroom window would make a right racket....

This link is especially for STWs favourite contrarian:)

Well, I've ordered one, altho its gonna be quite wait - 12 weeks+!! In the meantime a road bike will have to live in the house and the MTB at my ex-house.

I font really have a choice when it comes to the mtb - rental + I dont think it will fit thru the back door into the kitchen anyway (an annoying porch is fitted!)

I'm also gonna attach the bikes together with a big FO chain and possibly to a big lump of metal as well.
