Has anyone had the 'pleasure' of trying to remove the EDC stem top cap when no spacers are installed, so the cap directly clipped into the stem?
This thing will not budge, and I remember it taking a far bit of force to push it in... fnar.
Got a new set of forks to fit and I 1. need to remove the cap to correctly get the steerer length, and 2. want to put a spacer above so it's easier to remove the tool, and to let me have a bit more steerer length.
Have you tried massively loosening the stem bolts and easing the stem wider with a screw driver? I've only ever had mine with spacers on. Just be aware that you need steerer being the joints between spacers to keep them together. First time I fitted mine removing the tool also removed the top cap and first spacer 🙄.
Thanks, note taken on the 2nd point.
Success - did it by using a 2/3mm allen key in the slot for the bolts, levering against the top bolt allowed enough pressure to pop the cap off!
