Hi,

Anyone got any advice on the best way to remove the gxp spacers from a Hope BB for basic servicing and bearing removal.

With the spacer in you cannot remove the outer black seal on the non-drive side. Got some grit behind the seal so won't to clean it out, but need to remove the spacer in order to do so.

Any simple suggestions appreciated!!

Cut a small slot in before fitting so it's easier to remove...

Thanks!
But too late, it's been in for 750miles.

Whereabouts are you putting a groove in?

Just filed a slot in one of the cups, enough to put a screwdriver flat against.

If it's any consolation mines been in for 4,700km and I've nver looked at it or touched it. They are tough buggers

You can use a blind bearing puller, 20mm will do it IIRC. If you've not got access to one of those, carefully tapping a small screwdriver into the gap, working your way around in between the two will also get them apart, but will make a bit more of a mess of the edges. They're only alloy though, so easy to tidy up with a file afterwards and put a couple of notches in there to make it easier next time.

What mint imperial said. I did it like that. Just screwdriver it apart. Takes a bit of time. My spacers are back in a new BB.

No issues.

Pop the cup in the freezer for a few hours. The alloy insert should shrink more than the steel bearing making it easier to get out. Mine came out by hand when I did the swap from gxp to shimano cranks using this method.
