Someone sold me a GXP Hope BB... Kind of annoying when I tried to fit a Shimano crank. As far as I can tell it's a standard 24mm BB with a couple of spacers fitted. Before I wreck the whole thing has anyone managed to remove the spacers?

... For the meantime I'm running a Saint/Hope combo.

Not tried it myself, but believe you need to put the bearing in the freezer for a while, then the spacer will drop out easily.

Oh... I've heard of freezing to fit bearings before but didn't realise I could get spacers to drop out like that.

If they are still the same as the were when I had one years ago, they're in two pieces so you should be able to carefully tap them apart using a fine screwdriver or similar.

Remember that time I bought a blind bearing puller and it sat in the corner of the shed waiting for a special occasion?
No you probably don't.
Neither did I.
But then I did.
Worked a treat!

easy enough to remove, I just used a small flat head type screw driver positioned on the join and just tapped apart, being extremely careful, doing opposite sides a fraction at a time.
