Removing AXS batteries when travelling?

I have AXS on 3 bikes, and regularly transport them on a towbar rack, or inside the car.

I was reading a mail from SRAM today recommending that the batteries should be removed and replaced with the red battery block if in or on the car, something to do with the car movement keeping the mech/dropper active and using power.

Is this a thing ?

Certainly is. The batteries will be active for the full car journey otherwise. I’m sure there’s been at least one story on here from someone who arrived at the trails with an unexpectedly dead battery

Deffo use the red bits - I’ve read quite a bit about the pogo pins getting damaged and being difficult/impossible to replace…

Yep - I've had it happen twice, once arrived at windhill with no way of changing gear and once at an xc race but luckily had the dropper battery to swap over.

Also I put spare cr2032's in the car/van as I've also had the remote run out when arriving at FoD on a separate occasion.....

Then you probably have spare chargers kicking about, leave one in the car in case you get caught out.  Shouldn't take long to top a battery up enough for a ride should the need arise

We have noticed it when travelling to the Alps. Battery fully charged before and gone flat on first ride. I always have a spare one in my backpack and chargers in all vehicles and at home.

I do like the idea of the multiple charger but it's a ridiculous price compared to just using a USB multi plug

Yes especially when lying down on its side. Think the mech might have been fighting against its self weight using the motor.
not sure this would apply t on the dropper as that’s just a motor to open/close the clamp.
I guess it would be ‘active’ connected to the remote, but using as much power as if you’d ridden for the same amount of time and not used the dropper (not a lot).
