Hi anybody know what tool beside chain whip I need to change a rear cog on Salsa El Mariachi SS. It's not the usual shimano lock nut type thingy

Needs a C spanner to undo the lockring.
C spanner or you can tap it off with a thick flat headed screwdriver and hammer but that is more awkward.
Thank you very much my LBS tightened it up for me once when it came loose once and I couldn't for the life of me remember what it was called

I use a tool like that for my El Mar.
