In my usual lax fashion, I seem to have left it too late to secure a pitch on the Kielder campsite for the Reiver. Has anyone had any luck with any other local sites, or is it a case of dossing in a layby (I'm in a camper)?

Any pointers would be ace. Ta very much.

We just bivvied in the woods behind the main car park. There were plenty in their campers on the same car park.

The car park? Yep, head to the castle which is the event centre, go past the castle entrance and straight ahead there's two roads. The one on the right is the start of the Forest Drive, the one on the left goes past the bike shop and up to the parking area. That's awesome, thanks. Was there no risk of getting shifted on? Nothing worse than being woken up and told to move.

Me and missus left it late too and couldn't find anywhere within 40 minutes. Think we might be staying at someone's house now though.

I don't do camping (can't sleep not knowing I don't have a nice bathroom lol).

@oddnumber - no-one seemed bothered TBH. Someone came round either early in the morning or whilst we were riding the event and put a note on the car about paying the parking fee (I was under the impression that the parking was in the event fee but it could have been that you had to display something and I didn't - @boxelder might know more)

Boggle Hole is £6 per night and about 5 minutes away from the castle.

If you've got a camper they let you stay in the upper car park overnight now (cost £10 and they do check) - I was there a couple of weeks ago and the Anglers Arms were advertising free overnight camper parking if you eat in the pub. Worth a call?

But would've thought these were being used for the event?

Thanks very much chaps I really appreciate the replies! Looks like I'll head up earlyish Friday and try and secure a place in the car park. Fingers crossed.
