I read somewhere, maybe Surrey MTB Guides (but cant remember now or find it online) that Regurgitator on Leith is a victim of logging operations. As in properly borked, not just a few twigs on the trail.

Can anyone who's been up there recently confirm or deny?

Bummer if true, some nice switchbacks to end a ride with 🙁

Which bit is that then? Is it the section down from the cricket pitch (after Deliverance)?

I discovered on Sunday that Summer Lightning is a bit different nowadays!

aP

Im an open-minded chap and like it both ways.

If I'm going down I always have a sniff around first to make sure it's safe.

that's a great map! thanks! waggledance needs a bit of clearing. there seem to a be a lot of heavy logs on the trail but this looks purposeful as if they put them there to ensure that the trail is closed. i don't know if they will be removed. i have also heard that barry knows best is also suffering but apparently it is quite bad. is there anyone that knows for sure what it is like?

Rode BKB on Saturday, seemed fine to me...

BKB is just suffering from over use, it's getting very eroded, particularly where they've cleared the trees. The bottom bit's fine, but the top's a bit of a mess, not remotely sustainable IMO.

Summer Lightning just feels odd with no trees!

Doesn't it just! Though, it does feel like a totally new trail to ride, so that's a nice thing (change from the familiar I guess), certainly seems shorter to me (guess I'm riding it quicker with the threat of trees removed??)

Totally desolate IMO. Always feel you get a sense of proximity and speed when you're surrounded by trees.

Bit I'm finding weird on Summer Lightening is the tree half way down the second section...has it moved itself closer to the middle of the trail? 😕 😉

Summer Lightning has lost some magic. And to think that I'll never see that trail carving it's way around trees again in my lifetime is sadder than a very sad thing. 😥

On the plus side, my imagination goes into overdirve and I'm not really blatting around on a trail; I'm barreling around the surface of the Death Star.
Empty space is a great canvas for the mind.

Of course this is partly because th eend bit is new and the old bit is, er, old. But also the new bit was all built to a standard, with smooth sloping water run-offs where it could be managed, and swoopy profiling to minimise braking and all that stuff.

Not sure what is happening with the trail volunteer work, but I would guess they will be keen to do some remedial work on the top bit of BKB soon.

At least the logging on BKB has mostly restored the trail to one line, instead of all the straight-lining that had sprung up.

I's a bit random and ad-hoc - but if you're near Regurgitator why not spend a few minutes doing a bit of tidying up - or are the logs too big?

Can we have photos of the bald bit everyone's talking about? Is this permanent? I'm overseas...

BKB is OK. There is light debris at the top, but I found because they have taken trees down at the top, I was riding it faster because it feels more open - but the stumps are still in the same place, which led to a couple of moments.

The last berm is ****ed by braking bumps now, some work needs to be done there.

Think we need a bit of rain first though.

If you're riding BKB in a group at night push women and children aside to be first rider, it is so dusty you cannot see because of all the light reflected back by the dust.

Glenp - the original line on BKB on the mini LH berm just after the ditch at the top seems less ridden than the straight line now. Or did last time I was there a couple of weeks ago.

Summer Lightning area has been logged too? Bummer, even if it hasnt affected the trail, I like riding through trees.

Has to happen though I guess.
