Would that be on SUNDAY, 21st JULY by any chance? 😉

Will look to make it to race (holiday decision allowing!) and looking forward to riding some fresh new trails on the day.

Gravity enduro- ride to the top of the hill and your own pace, then ride the timed stages as fast as you can. its a lot like a ride with your mates but the fun bits are timed.

That sucks that you're not racing Scott. You'll have to make a Strava section and post a time prior to the event to see where you might have ended up.....

Me and a mate signed up too. Neither of us have raced before but it was his stupid idea to enter sport cat....what could possibly go wrong?!

Cheers Scott, we're similarly useless so that would be good. I didn't bother to put us down in a 'team' on the BC website, should I have done? Email sent anyhow

All the catgories do the same route right? Thinking of entering the 'fun' category, but don't want to miss out of anything involved in the 'Sport'.

Def going to enter, the sister lives in Chichester. It's, what, only a 6 hour drive from Manchester....

I was about to ask whether we could arrange start times to be close to friends. So will send an email. We are different standards but not taking it too seriously. Well done for organising.

Yep same route just means you start similar times to people with similar skill level and there not to much over taking etc...

DrP - yeah that had occurred to me but we've got 3 kids inder the age of 5 and the older 2 go to bed at 7 so the start time doesn't work for me at the moment. Group of us meet at 7.30 outside the Broadwater on Thursdays, you're always welcome to join us too. Hoping to get out at half 7 tonight so I'll look out for you, what are you riding?

For thoughs that have entered or thinking about entering next year, here are the rules:

QECP Trail Collective Gravity Enduro Rules

Outline:
QECP Trail Collective Gravity Enduro is to BC rules and guidance for UK gravity Enduro races.
The event will be organized by The QECP Trail Collective and Insured & commissaired by BC.

Stages:
There is 5 timed stages which will be added together for an aggregate time which will decide the winner in each category.
All stages will be taped where race organizers deem appropriate. Taping will leave suitable line choice where available but will not allow for any significant ‘cutting’ of race track. Any competitor seen to be crossing stage tape, marker posts or taking any route deemed to off the official race track may be disqualified or receive a time penalty.
There must be no interference with the track such as removing rocks, roots or branches. Any competitor deemed to be interfering with the track will be disqualified.
All stages will be around a mile long and around 90-100m elevation drop. Estimated stage times are out 3 to 6 minutes long.
If riders don’t make their start times they will be slotted in 15seconds after the next rider or when ready to start the stage. However the clock will be ticking as the riders time will be taken from the official start time until they finish the stage, so try your best to be on time or you will have some very long stage times.

Bike:
Stages must be contested on the same bike. Any rider not complying with this will be disqualified.
Bar end plugs or equivalent must be fitted. Any rider not complying with this will be disqualified.

The Gravity Enduro can be done on any bike as long Bike must be of a sound mechanical state and have no electronically or mechanically assisted motors. Any rider not complying with this will be disqualified.
What bike do we recommend for the course? 100 to 160mm HT or 120mm to 160mm FS

Safety & Conduct:
All competitors must behave in a high quality sporting fashion. Observe all rules and instructions provided by organizers, timing staff and marshals.

Should you be caught by another rider in a stage you must pull off the racing line to allow a safe passing move, the rider must inform you which side he intends to pass. Always pass on the safest side.
All instructions given by race officials must be observed. This event should be fun so no foul or abusive language to anyone.

Signing on:
All competitors must sign on and pick up their number board before riding the course.
Do not tamper, modify or deface number boards in any way. Failure to comply with this may result in disqualification.
Hand in all number boards at the end of the race, Number boards will be pick out of at tub with the change of you winning a holiday with PURE MOUNTAINS.

Safety Equipment:
Helmets are compulsory and must be done up properly at all times(Including transition stage). Both Full face or Open face are OK. Helmets must carry a Snell, Kite mark or EN 1078. Gloves and Eye protection is highly recommended. Knee pads and body amour are up to the rider but if you’re not sure we recommended you ride in whatever you feel safest in.

Transition Stage / Link section:
The organizers will mark out one transition stage between race stages and a set time to reach next stage, transition time is based on using full link, riders are requested to use transition stage (No short cuts). If riders don’t use the official transition stage they may be disqualified or receive a time penalty. It is important to use the
transition stage as we can trace riders in case of emergency or injury.

Helmets must be worn on the transition stage.
