Is it an option to run lots and lots of sag to get the fork to the correct length?
I have a nukeproof scout which currently runs a 130mm fork, I find this too short and was thinking of adapting it to 140mm
I have a spare 160mm fork however, would it work just using that with extra low pressures to make it sit at the same ride height?
Meh, I'd just put the 160s on, set them up as normal and give it a try first. At 20% sag they'll wont be much difference between them and 140s, 15mm odd in height...some brands a2c are more than that different for the same travel length
What sort of fork is the 160 ? You can swap out the air shaft on a lot of forks to change the travel. My pikes for example have a 160 and 140 shaft to choose from.
Low pressure means you will blow through travel faster, meaning it will dive more unless you have a lot of extra compression adjustment. Can you change the travel on either of the forks?
It’s a lyrik boost 160mm and a yari none boost 130mm
130mm is too short though, bottom bracket and bars too low for me
What’s wrong with running 30% sag on the bigger fork?
Both can have the travel changed on them with a new air shaft.
Nothing wrong with 30% sag, but it depends how it impacts the way it handles ie it will go through travel more so depends how well set up it is
Ok so how about 30% sag with extra volume spacers to make it less linear?
Go for it,I experimented and put a 160mm pike on my Slackline which is designed for and had been running a 140mm fork and the bike felt better for me in every way.
