Now if Redbull could get behind Cyclo-X then we'd have a great international winter sport (& not just here in Belgium)

Why does it need them?

Ever seen the crowds that already turn up for CX events?

What's really needed is for CX to be included in the Winter Olympics, not for some silly fizzy drink marketing company to be involved.

Unless I've missed something, they ARE getting behind it

And the crowds are huge for decent events and have been for decades. CX isn't a fad in the traditional heartlands; the roadies here race/ride CX rather than MTB or even road in winter.

I was at the Koppenberg on Saturday.... 😉

I'm Belgian based & we have nearly all races shown live on TV.
It's great winter TV - 1 hour of athleticism & spectacle but clearly a very local sport.

If RedBull don't make this a one off exercise it could be great.
(though none of the top CX riders will be there for this event)

Got my trip to Belgium planned for a few weeks, can't wait!

Racing and watching CX with a few boys from the club, should be good fun, got my license approved for racing internationally so away we go!

I'm hoping to see crowds like that for the Milton Keynes CX World Cup at the end of the month, first time a Cyclocross WC will have taken place outside mainland Europe.

Should be well worth the trip, taking the boy too.

Imagine how much more rowdy the Belgians would get on Red Bull and vodka than they do on beer... 😆

Interesting - it's a 2 person team relay.

Slightly surprised that Red Bull are sponsoring such a small event, limited to 200 participant across all categories eg only 35 teams in the open category.

Does anyone else think that course on the vid looks a bit shite?

for me what i like is the muddy corners, off camber banks, twisty woody sections and so on....

Its Redbulls take on CX though, so its going to be different from "real" CX.

Just like US CX courses are different to Euro ones.

i see. would be fun I guess but certainly different to CX.

looks a bit like the XC eliminator held in Pickering prior to the Dalby world cup- that looks a good laugh:
