Hi Chaps,

Myself and a team mate went along to the Red Kite Easter bash this Saturday.

We did a total of 70km, 2 laps of the course (which our Garmin reported as 33km) plus an extra two loops to bring our ride time up to 5 hours.

There was over 2000m of ascent over the 70km - which was re-inforced by some brutal climbs. The descents were fantastic, steep'ish wide track - very reminiscent of the Dyfi descents.

The course took you out onto some lovely singletrack, and opened up into some fantastic views.

This is an course that deserves attention, marketed as a one day Enduro - much like Wentwood or Dyfi, which both see great numbers (300+ for Wentwood's first run this year, and 800 for last years Dyfi)- it would be a tough course to hoof it around, as at some points you climb a lot of metres on grindy slow ascents, to be spat down a very short descent then back up an incredibly steep climb.

The team will be back to the Crychan forest again this year, to re-trace the route with eveyrone else - I highly recommend to people to pencil in the date for next year, as it's a perfect time for an Enduro, if training for June / mid-season.

Cheers

Ricks
