I'm not liking this hill as much if I'm honest.
I never thought I'd miss the woodwork tbh...But it feels like this hill needs its big built lines just to make it work at all, rather than to make it awesome. Obviously the weather's not helping and it's nothing like as evolved as the old hills so it's not a straight comparison... Also, feels like they don't quite have the camerawork sorted either, they keep losing people off the other side of ridges
(also, isn't it great that Kyle Strait still looks like a massive baby?)
Probably safer for the riders though. Seems to be less verity of lines and less opportunity to go huge.
Semenuk's run still had me shouting all the way down.
he nailed that though its incredibly glitchy
Oh! And he made that look easy!
Smooth feed here. iPad app to Chromecast- superb.
Double flip enjoyed that.
Is smooth as butter for me.
Going by the commentary, they must be reading stw
(I've had a rock solid feed for a good while now btw)
So how come he did 3 backflips, one a double and he's still not first ?
yep, feed awful
Camera angles dont seem to do it justice. The pre-event videos of the start looked far more scary that the actual coverage
Crashes aside, seems to have lost the fear impact?
that paul bas feature made me feel like a **** for saying its not as dramatic as last year
I'm using the android app and its perfect. I've had 3 minor stops all feed
So how come he did 3 backflips, one a double and he's still not first ?
Two tricks, not a massively tech line.
Semenuk's line was nuts and tech tricks smooth as. Trouble is he makes it look too easy.
Got some new ideas for this weekend
Yeah did make me wonder re previous comments on the event. I was already feeling a little uncomfortable re CTE implications...
I think this course is more vertical than horizontal. There's much less of the nerve wracking ridge type stuff. More straight down. But as above maybe it's safer for the riders.
Semenuk's run had everything, the speed the style (even my son noticed that!) and the tricks
I always find it very inspirational to watch people risk their lives for the benefit of a sugary drink. In a way, the bloke who broke his back embodies everything great about this caffeinated product.
Skin walls not for the win tonight
Red bull app through firestick, feed is awesome only one minor glitch. Im liking the new hill, withiut the wood
Only one record in your collection Copa?
a?Only one record in your collection Cop
If you play it backwards it says:'Drink Red Bull'
😆"Floatry in motion"
I know understand the BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP posts...
That's some backflip "variation"!
Goddamnit. Will you all just stop watching.
Oh that was good. Not sure my eyes understood that last trick
I thought that was better than the marks!
lacondeguy good run.
I did was really aggressive in the top section. But there was that near error half way down, must have cancelled it out.
He says like he understands it. 😆
no connor. stop...
😯
Sometimes you must think, should I really do this?
Well that went well
damn i was proved right quickly there. glad he got up
ouch
Balls of...
Can he hold his head up full stop?

This is the first time I can remember the actual leading rider and the peoples choice being the same person. Hopefully there won't be any '....got robbed' scenario as there is every other year.
I'm giving up on the live feed though. A combination of crap connection and wind breaks has killed it for me.
I've still got good connection but the event's trickling out a bit isn't it. The 10 minute delay's a good idea for fairness but it's not so good for live viewing
I've had a smashing feed but i am delayed by about 30s
Bizet should have been given the win for having the Kahuna's to go again !
What's the update with Aggy?
Broken pelvis but no surgery required.
Will be out a few months obvs.
Guess that's why rampage is at end of season!
Does anybody know what happened to Sam Reynolds? I was looking forward to his run but he didn't compete in the finals. I guess he crashed in practice?
I was wondering the same. Nothing on his social media 🙁tomfun - MemberDoes anybody know what happened to Sam Reynolds? I was looking forward to his run but he didn't compete in the finals. I guess he crashed in practice?
Found this on Pinkbike
Blimey!Sam Reynolds opted out this year. In his view, things have gone too far and he said he simply wasn't prepared to risk his life. A tough but admirable call considering the pressure the riders are surely under to perform.
Makes you think doesn't it. I don't know what line Sam had in mind but you could bet it was going to hinge on a big trick. Maybe he was spooked by Fairclough crashing or maybe they were sharing the Canyon gap. Fair play though for being honest.
I've been down in Cornwall, in a geology field trip, so missed it live: however, I watched a selection of the runs last night and I can't understand why Semenuk won over Bizet. The latter's run was better, IMO.
Another amazing rampage, got me excited to go back next year and do some of the local riding too.
It's did feel long but I can understand why, we just settled in and ordered Pizza for the re run,
I can't understand why Semenuk won over Bizet. The latter's run was better, IMO.
For me Semenuk did more over the length of the run where as Bizet was needing to save/work for the double back flip - as shown where he didn't get it on Run 2.
For me he just got more into the run and the space, the drops were incredible up to
I can't understand why Semenuk won over Bizet.
One great trick shouldn't make a Rampage winner. It was a good run, but Semenuk's was clearly a much tougher line with 3 big tricks.

Ultimately that, my intial thoughts were that Bizet should have won, then i went back and rewatched Semenucks run and it was nuts. He had his own line that was pretty much a sheer drop at one point then he went into the tricks.
Can't find it but there's a POV of his run that shows just how bloomin steep it was at points
Also he was running 26x2.7 Maxxis tyres... first plus bike to win rampage? 😀
It's quite good that they've made best trick such a big deal tbh, that's always been a challenge for judging, the balance between one big headline grabber and a more balanced run. The judging seemed generally more sensible this year
I read somewhere they used ex riders, current riders and former winners as judges for the first time this year....seems sensible and probably had more to do with getting the judging right this year.
All the above.
Dropping into that first chute isn't something you witness a guy on a bike doing every day. It's more akin to snowsports freeride competitions. Followed straight after by what the commentary called a nosebonk, which looked more to me like the most casual rolling stoppy into the next drop...
The whole combination of tricks + style and the originality of the line (the majority of them rode the ridge) won and rightly so.
I have to admit I watched Semenuk's run via the red bull replay, but at the time could only find Bizet's POV footage, which made it look a far trickier line.
I totally agree: one trick shouldn't make the winner.
