Are we allowed a thread for posting second/third hand bargains spotted on various sites?

I always like browsing the PSA threads, but in the spirit of recycling good stuff as much as buying new, it could be a good idea to share great deals on various sites in one place - helping buyers and sellers alike.

I’ve always bought my bikes new, but changed circumstances (kids and house move) mean I’m much more likely to get my next complete bike, and bike parts, second hand - and maybe others are too?

What if someone recommends something that turns out to be a scam?

Will folk just use it to promote themselves/their mates/their second account?

I would agree with Tom - too much opportunity for nefarious behaviour with such a thing.

Plus I could not trust someone else's judgement - and I certainly would not recommend something I've not seen in person with a view to buy.

Caveat emptor.

Fair enough fellas. I wouldn’t personally even think about holding another forumite responsible if there were a scam - all they would have done is share an item from a reputable site like eBay or pinkbike. The potential buyer would still have to do their due diligence (or not, it’s up to them!) just like they would had they found the item themselves on those kind of sites? So, to me it’s no different, but if other people think like you guys guess it’s a non starter, and no worries!

This might be good  for sellers but not so good for buyers -e.g. I spot a bargain on ebay and someone on here flags it up to people who wouldn’t have seen it otherwise and thus they drive the price up or buy it themselves

I’m not sure STW towers would appreciate users being pointed towards the classifieds of other websites either, given that there’s one right here.

If users are confident enough buying parts second hand online, they’re already going to be searching all the other sites anyway.

When there's presumably only one of the thing available (unlike the PSA threads), that's probably going to be more frustrating for people than helpful.

Well if someone spots a 44 RC3ti in decent nick I'm happy to be an adult and exercise my own judgement.
