Yesterdays intended 28 mile ride lasted about 18 with lots of climbing/ descending. I had plenty of rests and took my time but the ride was tougher than expected hence the shorter route.
Anyway felt rubbish last night and had about 12hrs sleep. Been dizzy / light headed all day and collapsed once this morning. Seem to be eating drinking ok but as soon as I move I go dizzy initially but ok walking around after initial light headed goes away.
Must be bad as was watching Strictly, lol. Any recommendations guys in the short term as hoping to fine tomorrow fingers crossed.
I’m no doctor but that doesn’t sound like the after effects of a hard ride.
Go see a doctor...
What he said with the caveat that your not following one of these stupid fad diets that are all the rage on here.
+1 to what @jambo said.
What have you been doing in the weeks and months leading up to this? Is every ride done as hard as you can? If it is then you are overdoing things and you need to incorporate easier rides into your schedule. There was a longish thread on this not long ago.
Do you monitor your heart rate each morning? It can often be an indicator of overtraining or oncoming illness - if mine goes up by 10-15% then I know something is wrong.
See a doctor but to help him/her you need to provide a lot of background info.
Background is no diets or silly fads. Bought an ebike a couple of months back and did a 28 mile rought without to much climbing and felt not to bad after that. Not done any long rides only short stuff by myself at my own pace.
Blood pressure checked for a week 3 months back and all ok perhaps at 63 I am not as fit as I thought I was
I can't relate to those post ride symptoms at all since I started regular riding for fitness ~20 months ago.
If I do a ride with power intervals up hills, or a longer ride than normal at a lower pace like yesterday's hilly ~82 miler, today's leg soreness (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) is entirely expected.
During rides, I try to have a swig of water after ~30mins and a Jelly Baby after ~60mins, roughly every 15mins.
After rides, I try to get fluid into me with things like a big mug of Horlicks, along with carbs like a bowl of cereal and a bit of protein like a peanut butter/jam/marmite sandwich... Quantity obviously dependent on intensity and duration of ride! 😉
You need to be seeing a doctor OP especially if you collapsed, that's not right. I think i'd have rung 111 after that had happened.
