Funk Jr has finally started to show an interest in cycling 😃 we’ve been racing down the road. Him on his balance bike and me on the Flare. It’s his birthday soon and as he’s now interested I want to get him a proper bike. The Specialized Rip Rock looks good and Gean and Grandad are wanting to chip in. Anything else from the hive mind I should be looking at? Used is also an option.

Can't see past a hotrock 16... All my kids have gone through ours and onto a hotrock 20.
All I did was take off the coaster brake and fit a rear brake

Dawes or Squish, both the same but the former having BMX bars and the latter normal rise. Nice and light and a fair wedge cheaper than an Islabike.

To be honest whatever fits will be fine, Frog and Orbea should be in the list too. Second hand opens more options.

Commencal ramone. Latest model lost a chunk of weight. More mtb’y than a frog or Isla.

The riprock transformed my youngest daughters riding. She is light and found a normal rigid "too bumpy". The fat tyres run at about 6 psi so she rolls over stones and rock gardens with confidence, her cornering is demon. The disc brakes are one finger stopping and easily adjustable for her dinky fingers. The old Isla bike she had just seemed like riding a piece of wood in comparison, she hated it. Its an ace bike and we are getting the 24 version for her next.

You should buy my Cnoc 16 Isla bike. Nice blue one, fair condition, very fair price 🙂

Early Rider Belter is a brilliant bike, very light, which really helps them get going.
No chain either, so no oily marks on clothes 😎

Another vote for an Early Rider. Ours is on the second child now, and still brilliant. If you can get one second hand, go for it.

Will have one to sell in the spring/summer, though...!
