I switched to Putoline for MTB applications years ago, but I'm not using that on my road bike! I have been using various wet lubes that I had left over, but as might be expected, these attract a lot of gunk and filth in a short time. I know there will be something lighter that does the job and doesn't get so dirty so quickly, any recommendations?
Why do you not want to use putoline for a road bike?
Smoove. I was a putoline user in the winter, but since moving to smoove, I've not felt the need for putoline.
Cookeaa - because I want something that's light and cleaner, so if I need to pop wheel out or handle it for any reason, I don't end up looking like I've been down the pit!
Finish Line "Dry"Â PTFEÂ lube and Pedros Ice Wax both stay clean and gunk free.
Smoove.
Does pretty much what it claims. Been using it on CX/Gravel bike.
My current favourite is Wickens and Soderstrom No3. It seems to last well and doesn't pick up a lot of gunk.
also using W&S No 3 here which works very well. For dry conditions Pedrox Ice Wax is one of the cleanest and lasts long if it stays dry...
Have a bottle of W&S No 5 to try next !
Big fan of purple extreme. Just make sure it's had a good 12-24 hours after application to dry out otherwise you get a black mess if used straight after lubing.
fenwicks stealth for me, tidy lube with minimal mess.
Thanks, All 🙂
FinishLine Dry for me, nothing better.
Putoline the chain then once it is back on the bike spray a bit of wd40 or similar onto a cloth and run the chain thru it - takes allthe excess off the outside where you don't need it but leaves it all in the rollers where it is needed? thats what I do
Sawchain oil.
I use muc off ceramic dry lube c3. Ive not found anything better.
Rock n roll gold or extreme
Wurth motorcycle chain wax in a massive tin.
Squirt. Lasts well, not messy.
