Due to back and neck issues I am considering a full suss again, so I could with some recommendations please. I have a Whyte 29c that I got old stock new and have done less than 100 miles on it, previously has a rocky mountain element and it was brilliant ( did Fred whitton on it) and I would like something similar;
Around 100mm rear travel
Front 100 to 130 travel
29 wheels
Weight not fussed but lighter than 30 lbs
Looking for good climbing but better descending/ stable
Riding is road ( usually to get to the trail) n England fells and moors, trail centre and some long days out.
Older models ok ( second hand market), owned a few bikes ( turner's, santa Cruz, intense, yeti, nicolai, rocky mountain but all time fave is a stooge ti which has ruined my experience of other bikes) so any recommendations please?
How bothered by latest geometry are you?
Budget?
Not low ..... Slack ok.....budget ...open to suggestions....if I can get something to use all my obsolete parts you know 142 thru axel, great.
Some decent deals on Orange Stage 4's about. Newer version of my Segment that I use to do all that you describe and think it's ace. Think I saw some killer deals on a few Segments the other day too?
I'm wondering if one of the last Santa Cruz Superlights (29er flavour) would work well for you.
Is a Sonder Cortex worth a look for a slightly more budget option than the flashier brands?
Orange stage 4....I ummed and aaarrrreddd about, yes think it is one to consider but not had a single pivot bike this century.....
I've built one up after buying the frame off here, and I'm loving it so far. Should be perfect for the riding you describe.
Note - I've added a -2deg headset and am using a 130mm fork.
