Need these for an upcoming trip. Ideally they'll be strap on instead of the pull on variety.

Race Face Rally or FR guards are what I use on places that need full length protection.

Cheers! How's the fit? I've got some POC ones which fit the bill, but I don't get on with them fit wise. I think I need some for narrower legs if that makes sense?

Just got some POC bone VFD leg guards for uplifts and the more gnarly stuff (or where there are lots of thorns etc) good product, very comfortable, although I had to cut he last 1" or so off the bottom of the plastic shin guards to make them fit me 100%

Edited to add - online review at http://www.basquemtb.com/long-term-review-poc-bone-leg-armour/

If it's of interest I have some lightly used Dainese 3x guards that have been sitting in our spare room for about 3 years - they're hard shell outer combined knee & shin, and they can be put on & taken off without removing shoes. £20 posted?

Here's a review of them http://reviews.mtbr.com/dainese-3x-knee-and-elbow-guards

Oh, have also got the matching elbow guards (I'm a bit too old and broken for proper DH stuff now)

Fit wise the Race Face are made in terms of straps for narrower legs but my good lady takes the Velcro off and moves it to extend the girth they can wrap round properly. 😆
