Morning all,
I have an olde 26" GT Zaskar (not an original sadly but a Zaskar Race in red) which isn't anything particularly special but I like it quite a lot nonetheless. The brakes on it are rubbish (Avid Elixer 3) and have seized up now.
It isn't worth much so I'm looking for recommendation on a cheap pair of brakes to replace these. I used to have a pair of Shimano XT 4 pots which I thought were ace but I don't think these are made any more, and XT will be too expensive for this thing.
What's cheap and reasonable?
Cheers!
Tecktro?
Clerks?
Both do shimano clones at much cheapness
I have a set of Clarks brakes on my old hardtail. Can't remember exactly which model, I can check if you like. They were buttons - about fifty quid with rotors, I think - and they're okay. Not super powerful or mega modulated, but for the money I've no complaints.
I've not done a ton of miles with them, but they've been reliable so far.
Clarkes Clout (?). Dirt cheap and seem decent - youngest mini DBW has some on his hardtail and they've been great.
I've just had delivered this morning a set of Clarks M2 to stick on my son's hardtail. Can't go wrong for £37 delivered from Tredz. They come ready filled and bled so just a case of sticking them on and ready to go. Discs and pads included too.
