Evening guys,
I've got a set of 2010 M445 Shimano SLX brakes and a set of Formula K18's for my Giant XTC 29.
The Shimanos i'm not 100% keen on due to the fact they feel 'OK' at best.... can't get them to feel brilliant. (Could just be pads ? i only run Superstars)
The Formulas, well they're a bit weird as i generally have issues with pad movement even on the almost new front, either my rotors are different thicknesses on my spare wheels or something is wrong lol. But either way i struggle to get the wheels spinning 100% freely without any binding at all. If i push the pads back of course they're fine... but once pistons move back out they're a little 'sticky' and hard to get perfect.
So, i'm interested in what's the best and easiest and i guess the nicest out there (within reason)
Budget isn't firm, but i'd be upset spending more than £200.
(Unless i should really just try some different pads on the SLX?)
The newer 2012 shimano won't disappoint.ive got Xt which are great but the Slx offer the same performance for less money. The wife has them on her Anthem and have been fautless so far.
Try these formula RX
I bought a set of 2nd hand SRAM XO brakes for less than £100, very happy with them 🙂
Or these for around £200 if they will combine postage
I don't think m445 is slx. It's deore but they are still great brakes. Perhaps your pads are not bedded in or have become contaminated.
Maybe I misread at the time.
What pads then guys?
Stick with superstar, cheap and reliable IMO.
Re pads, Superstar or Discobrakes, 4 for £20 ish. Go for sintered.
Re brakes, + 1 for 2012 XT, they are awesome brakes.
