Currently got shimano am7, sadly the cleat area has come away from the sole meaning whenever I pull up on the pedal stroke I can feel it through my foot, I've no idea how this happened and only on the right foot

Was pretty pleased with them but less than 2years old and thr rest of the shoe is in good nick

So what's new? Any good ones out there for around 100 quid that will not fall apart?

Want them to be similar to the shimano, with a nice rubber sole you can walk in comfortably and nice to pedal in all day long

I would have gone straight back to the same model as this, but given theyve not faired well long term I'm a bit reluctant throw another 100 quid to them

What other similar ones are out there these days?

I've had spesh 2f0 clip lite before but found the sole to stiff and other than them and these am7, Ive not had any other enduro type ones before

What size are you?

Sigma Sports currently have AM9's (which I really like, had AM45's for years before them) for 50% off right now in a few sizes... I have no direct experience of the AM7's, but for the price of the AM9's @ Sigme, if they only lasted another 2yrs I wouldn't be too upset.

I did see them but they are identical to mine but without laces and a flap

I guess for the money they are good, but 2 years use (well 2 spring/summers) just a bit disappointing if they go the same, albeit they are a very good price

I really like my ME7s. Unfortunately for the updated model they have moved to a wider last and as I have very skinny feet when they die I'll probably have to look elsewhere. What's very like an ME7 with a narrow fit?

OP - if you have normal width feet give them a look

I just got these in size 50 from ze Germans - really nice fit for me, haven't used them in anger yet but look promising. The colour isn't as garish as it looks in the picture.

Ive been running Ion Rascals for the last few years... Great fit and not overly stiff. If you shop around you can get them for a decent price as well.

I found the Mavic shoes to be really comfortable , also have excellent grippy soles if you need to walk in the mud

Also, these:

I ordered a pair but returned them as I picked up a pair of Terraduros cheaper, they're kinda like a cross between the Terraduro low & mid as they are raised only around the inner ankle and don't have the Vibram sole.

Giro Terraduro.

My suggestion as well, bit heavy but good sole. Terraduro might be outgoing model though, if Giro Ventana is successor it is even more expensive.

Ion rascal (or, if you want a slightly more sturdy version, the rascal select).

And I didn't understand this :

whenever I pull up on the pedal stroke

Are you really pulling up ? Maybe that is why it separated ?

Isn’t that the point of SPDs?

Same challenge here. My much loved Sworks Trail Shoes have finally given up. I am looking at these from Sidi, they seem available at a decent price, get good reviews. Has anyone tried them?

Sidi Defender 20

I've got a pair of those decathlon giros and I'm pleased with them for the money. Reasonably roomy. Going to put some duct tape over the tongue until the weather warms up a bit though - they're pretty well ventilated.

It's the easiest way of describing it, no I'm not pulling up on them, more so as the pedal stroke stage is coming around so your foots starting to pull upwards, I can feel it every pedal rotation more so when going up hill, there's movement there which is more pronounced on the up stroke, also I know its bad habit but them with clips will know when you pull up with a bunny hop you can feel it awfully then, not that I tend to do that but it made me realise as a test somethings wrong with the right one

Anywyas I've never had this before and Ive taken a punt on the am9s cheap so hopefully I won't have the same again, but at 62 quid it's pretty cheap, as the am7 which is nigh on identical is comfy and suits my foot well, figners crossed the next model up doesn't do it

Here’s hoping we’re not both disappointed in 2 years time... I really like mine so far, even if they’re not quite as sturdy as the ancient AM45’s they replaced.

Well mine have turned up, they are a bargain for 62 quid, can't grumble technically a upgrade over the am7 and nice have no laces piss around with

I still can't figure out what's happened to the am7s so that the shoe moves on the up stroke (as above) they look fine inside and I've set them up identical to the new ones, weird one.. Hey ho I can keep the am7 as emergency spares as they still are great condition bar the issue with the pedal interface(again as above)

But am9s very nice softer sole, better closure/comfort over laces and should keep the water out a bit better too

Fingers crossed these last min 2 years then they really will be a bargain, as they fit me the best I've ever had

Can anyone comment in n how those Division fit Vs the Terraduro? The latter were too narrow for my paddle feet and have just ordered ME7s but could do with spending more like half the amount
