Need a nice pair - i have up to £100 to spend. I have Nukeproof Neutrons currently and they are great but would like some to try something a little more high end. Also I am a big tart so would like them to match my new Cotic Soul frame that is on its way. Any recommendations?

Vaults are brilliant, until the cheese that they are made from finally melts....

Yup, nobeerinthefridge converted me to the burgtec. Never looked back.

Awesome bits of kit.

I have Vaults and Nukeproof Horizon. And I think the Horizons are grippier.

I like my Hope F20s. Bombproof, and they have pins in the middle of the platform which is a design I seem to get on better with than the pins-round-the-edge set up of Burgtecs and the like, not sure why.

I'm an f20 fan too. Moved to them from nukeproof electrons.

Someone's selling some F20s on the classifieds (or they were this morning). Was tempted, but I'll stick with my plastic discobrakes ones cos I'm poor.

Do you want ‘high end’ ones for the bling or for function?

One of the pairs of flats I have are quite thin / have completely smooth bearings after a year of abuse with no maintenance / still look ok / have stood up to rock strikes.

Carbon Cycles Exotic aluminium pedals -

I think they do more expensive pedals with magnesium and titanium used if you want more bling / more light weight.

Tried some of the Hope F20s on a loan bike and as lovely as they look, the grip I found to be piss poor, so much so I was ready to snap the flipping things off and hurl them over my shoulder.

I've got Nukeproofs on the hardtail which I get on fine with, perfectly fine level of grip. Have DMR vaults on the full suss and they're super grippy, perfect and a good sized platform for my feet. easy to service both sets but I've had to service the Nukeproofs a little more regularly than the DMR Vaults. If it were me I'd buy a set of Vault's again and get the slightly lighter but not cheese worthy full titanium jobbies.

Mine are so old, I have no idea when I bought them, but the bearings are still like new. My kid uses them now and said the pins feel a bit worn.

Some good suggestions there, thanks. Particularly like the look of the Vaults - some good offers around. In reply to Joebristol I want some higher end ones to basically see what a better pedal feels like. The Nukeproofs I have now grip well but with being plastic they don't feel solid enough.

The Carbon Cycles Exotic ones definitely feel solid - I’ve smashed me into all sorts of rock in the last year with no effect on the pedals really.

Compared to the other flats I have (Wellgo MG1) they have more grip and have stayed looking a lot nicer. It helps they are anodised and not painted I think.

Vaults are great, until the bearings and bushes go. Which is usually around the 15 minute mark. DMR very kindly don' sell them as individual bits either so bend you over for replacement parts.

NukeProof Horizons are actually even gripper and the bearings last. Probably the best flats on the market IMO.

I'd like to try the OneUp pedals, but the Nukeproof just won't die.

Plastic Horizons are really bloody good tbh, and the plastic is tougher than some alu cages I've had. I have some vaults in a box somewhere, if you've got massive feet the platform size is a bonus but other'n that they're not better than Horizons. Thinner, but not so's I really notice.

I think Hope have improved their pins now? Mine were ungrippy but there was supposed to be a fix coming. They were pretty ordinary.

Shame, I just purchased some new Neutron Evos and they are (to me) the bombiggetybom.  The dog's nads.  Fave pedals ever already after a week, so hope that they last a long time.  So grippy that the first time I used them I tried to dismount and fell over side always as my foot was stuck.  I'd have a snapped up yr pair of lightly used ones 😉 *

*if in orange.

I may get banned for this, but I’ve always found Superstar Nano pedals to be great for the price. I currently have a pair of Burgtec pedals that came with my latest bike. They look utterly wrecked and don’t spin too freely, but by heck they are super grippy. If I wasn’t so tight I’d buy a new pair of them.

Might be tempting fate but I have Vaults on my BFe, been there for 5years still going fine never been serviced.

Also have some F20's on another bike, you need to play about with the pin location and numbers to get optimum grip. I took the middle pins out so I could push my feet into the pedal.

They're HT Nanos same as the Exotics mentioned up the page, nothing to get banned over. Haven't tried their home-grown ones personally but the HT/Exotic/Fatties/Superstar pedals are kind of icons of good-and-cheap, I bet they've caused a lot of manufacturers of expensive pedals a lot of tears.

Vaults for me too, 3 year old pair , cleaned and greased once still going strong, they are thicker and heavier than some, but the thickness gives a good concave platform my feet like

Got to be Shimano Saints, comical levels of zero grip, but they leave a nice indentation in the shin.

Nearly every ride one of my daughters would ask me if I'd had another crash and the wife would tell me off for getting blood on the towels!
