Currently running mavic EX721 and want something wider.
I've only ever had mavic so looking for some recommendations on a better rim that is wider and and of similar strength.
Something lighter would be a bonus!
I could go EX729 but they don't appear to have changed in about 15 years so sure there must be something better out there now.

729 is pretty weighty. Also surprisingly denty- they're strong, but they don't have the hardness of a 721.
I've got a Flow and a Flow Ex on mine. Strong enough to win the world cup. But you have to be realistic, they won't last as well as 721s. Cracked a Flow after a lot of use, replaced it with the Ex, battered dents right into the bed of the rim after a few rides... Still going though. If you're riding often, or hard on wheels, I doubt they'd be up for it.
