Riding locally I get shredded shins on brambles and nettles and my allergies cause my legs to react even when riding through grass. Are there any trousers that a: are cool enough for summer and b: Don't cost £100+?
Cheers.
Lightweight hiking trousers - Regatta or similar.
I've got a pair that I wear autumn and spring. Were only £15 in their sale. Think they were the Isoflex model.
I added a couple of belt loops for better belt security.
If its Brambles that are causing problems then dont spend much money. They will soon shred any trousers you buy. Would long socks help ? May be cheaper to replace them than trousers every time they get ripped to bits.
Cheers, I'll have a look at Regatta now.
This was my thinking Trimix. No point in spending a fortune because theyre going to get shredded.
Fox flex air are excellent. Properly shaped for mtb unlike hiking trousers.
I got these: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/mens-trousers-alpinism-light-id_8495174.html
Stretchy, comfy, splash resistant and abrasion proof. Work really well on the bike.
Knee pads and knee high sealskinz, sorted.
I tend to just use knee pads and thicker / longer socks most of the time.
I do have some (expensive) Endura trousers for the winter, they are great. But I wouldnt want to ruin them with Brambles.
Fox Mx/ MTB trousers. They won't give you hungry bum like normal trousers either .
Shame the Boardman MTB trousers are no longer made, they are so comfortable to where on and off the bike and cost me ~£30 in 2018, wearing them right now in fact with the lower leg zipped on (great as sitting around shorts when warmer).
Karrimor panther pants, two pairs for £38 at sports direct, tough and stretchy material, secure zipped pockets, casual looking so can wear anywhere.
