We've just run out of Fenwicks bike cleaner. What's the current bike shampoo of choice in your garage?
Muc off motorcycle cleaner, bogof deal at Tweeks, 10l for £25 last time I looked and its exactly the same stuff as a lot of shops sell at £10 a litre
Elbow Grease from B&M. I think it's £1.50 for a litre.
It's the best stuff I've seen for cleaning drivetrains. If it was bike branded it would be a tenner a bottle.
Cheapest washing up liquid, diluted in a plant sprayer.
Guy Martin's Proper Cleaner, using a Peatys Loam Foam bottle for the foaming nozzle.
I've struggled with the degreaser. Will have to by an actual proper bottle for it, I suspect its too thick for the muc off and peatys bottles used to date.

What was wrong with the Fenwicks?

*glances over at the 5l tub that arrived last week...
Juice Lubes Gnar & Super Gnar.
Bucket of soapy water.
Muc-off, it has Nano-Tech. Lol
Still using fenwicks, I like the dilutability/cost.
The Tour De France stuff they sometimes sell in Home Bargains is fantastic, comes in a really good squirty bottle too, but they don't stock it reliably.
Washing up liquid or if it's really greasy that Halfords biodegradable stuff in a pump bottle. I've been surprised by how effective it is, works well for car wheels too!
Fenwicks concentrate seems to be offering the best value for me. 10:1 in the spray bottle, 2:1 in the chain cleaner
Fenwicks all day long.
whatever snow foam my son has bought for his car
Halfords, the orange stuff. It's great.
whatever snow foam my son has bought for his car
This
I use snow foam on the car and the bike with great results, Bilt Hamber is considered one of the best and you can get 5 litres for £17
If its good enough for professional car detailers then its fine for the bike

For a really good frame cleaner, for when you want to sell bikes or just make them look fantastic, a mix of bicarbonate of soda and GT85.
Polishes scratches out, removes anything oily or tarry - just don’t use it too often or you will have no paint left.
I’ve run out of cleaner ages ago and haven’t bought any more as even through a filthy winter seem to be having the same effect with just a large soft brush and water and then a dry off with a rag. Cant see me buying any more. Do use chain cleaner though.
@kayak23 - nowt wrong with Fenwicks!
I've had the big tub for so long I'm not sure if it's still one of the best.
A big bottle of Screwfix no nonsense degreaser diluted down
Squirt bike cleaner, undiluted it works as a degreaser.
I've got half a big 25l drum of TFR I got free off a local facebook page. Diluted 10:1 it should last a few years!
It does kinda depend on how much you like your bike though. I've found any sort of degreaser/TFR eventually dulls the paint unless you polish and wax it afterwards. Which is why I only use the TFR on the Berlingo and do the MG properly.
@tall_martin beat me to it with the £9.99/5litres screwfix no-nonsense degreaser diluted. I put it in whatever squirty bottle I have spare and hose the bike down, spray, agitate with a soft paintbrush then wash off and microfibre dry before a quick wax. Oh and fairy liquid with warm water is to be avoided; it causes a reaction with any road salts and speeds up corrosion.
Using Guy Martin's proper cleaner here. Seems to work as well as the Hope Sh1t shifter I used to use. Comes in tablet form so no shipping loads of unnecessary water
Car shampoo in a bucket of watr and a sponge and brush. Works.
Diluted TFR on the tyres.
Dried frame then sprayed with either Mr Sheen (original) or Muck Off Protect, then silicon lube on suspension and dropper.
I got more Fenwick's concentrated cleaner.
It will last me years as I don't give the bike a proper clean that often. It's usually brush mud off, hose down drivetrain, lube it then throw in garage
I use the muc off concentrated pouches, but I use 1/4 of a pouch instead of 1/2 to make 1l of muc off as I find I don't need the full strength to clean my bike.
Works out at £2.50 a litre, which I think is pretty good. Tried car shampoo and fairy liquid in the past but they don't seem to be as effective as muc off when it comes to mud.
Fenwicks is about £11 and highly concentrated so works out about £1/L
Neat it can be used as a degreaser. God knows what's in it 🤔
Fenwicks here too. Or on the Ti frame I use Stainless Steel wipes (ebay 5 packs for £8)
I like the low volume/weight packaging of Guy Martin Proper Cleaner, but odly,
I’ve struggled with the degreaser. Will have to by an actual proper bottle for it, I suspect its too thick for the muc off and peatys bottles used to date.
The degreaser has done for 2 MucOff sprayers! I think it's thicker than others. I've resorted to brushing it on recently.
Rhino Goo Concentrate.
Its like witchcraft.
Wet the bike, spray it on, wait five minutes, rinse it off.
No More Dirt.
No brushing, no scrubbing. Just the hose and the spray bottle.
The bottle suggest 4:1 dilution, I use it at 8:1 and it still works.
Screwfix no nonsense degreaser, neat for drivetrains or can be diluted, £8 or so for 5 litres, superb stuff
@tthew I'm glad it's not just me that has struggled with it. I normally end up pouring it directly onto the the cassette whilst spinning it...
Flash / supermarket own label floor cleaner. £1 per litre . Exactly same active ingredient. (Less than 0.5% ionic surfactants) why pay more?......
Hate to be that person. But you don't need degreaser if you don't use oil e.g putoliiiiine
It's not the ray of light many people here think it is but does work pretty well
I've used a lot less degreaser since I switched to Smoove lube. Fairy liquid with clean the cassette and baby wipes if I want a thorough clean of the chain. Only use degreaser on new chains now.
Interested to hear more about this issue with fairy liquid and hot water. I've been doing that for decades and never noticed a problem. Surely with a good rinse, there's no fairy, or road salt left behind.
Another for screwfix degreaser. I use it to clean everything including the bath.
