Don't like cork and the shiney carbon effect stuff always seems a bit slippy when thrutching on the bars, so what else would people recommend??
Microfibre stuff looks ok, but a bit on the thin side? Looking for something a bit thicker.
Lizard Skins DSP 3.2 is really nice.
Lizard Skins
Specialized Phat Bar or Roubaix
The Lizard Skins stuff looks a bit plastic-y? Not to mention a lot more than other tapes?
Worth it?
Lizard Skins DSP has a sort of tacky surface. That means you don't actually have to grip it so hard, which in turns leads to less fatigue and bar buzz.
Worth it?
IMHO, yes...
Worth it?
Yes, it's only £20 more than really cheep tape, and in the grand scheme of bike upgrades is much better than most £20's.
I like fizik tape, grippy and lasts well. The dsp stuff does seem to be flavour of the moment.
always seems a bit slippy when thrutching on the bars
I have no idea what 'thrutching on the bars' means though so the stuff I use may not suit. What does it mean?
I went with Fizik Performance, won't use it again I think, I don't like how pronounced the edges of the wraps feel. Nice to look at though.
Zipp bar tape is lovely soft and grippy. Guarantee you will like it. Looked at the Lizzard Skin and thought it was nice but too expensive . The Zipp stuff is similar , rubbery-ish , but not shiny .
Having spent the last 6 months balking at the price of lizard skins dsp 2.5 and now finally having bought and fitted some I confirm it does live up to the hype, it's comparable to the first time I tried lock on grips (ODI rogues) on the mtb, a revelation
Seemed easier to fit neatly as well although I'm not an expert on fitting bar tape
