The pressure gauge on my current one seems a bit flaky and the pump is hard work with high pressures in my rear shock.

What's the go to - something digital?

Thanks

My previous digital one just died after about 10 years, it’s the one which nearly every brand is selling with their own name. The problem was design of the battery compartment, one of the contacts broke.

For replacement I got Pro Digital Shock Pump from a sale somewhere. At least it seems like an original design but I am not fan of its bulky ball-jointed pump head.

I think it was an accident, but a few years ago I bought some Pikes from Wiggle and they included a Rockshox Shock Pump in the box. It's the best one I've used (pressure relief particularly for small adjustments) and is still going strong, seems like they're not that expensive to buy either. I'm not a serial fettler though, so others may have better options for regular use:

I bought a lezene digital shock pump.

https://winstanleysbikes.co.uk/lezyne-digital-shock-drive-mini-pump?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=1055895549&gbraid=0AAAAAD_ilfJgTfZIuFmtCYjhiDBv3nWLW&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9JLHBhC-ARIsAK4PhcqYd6f7UwVAWmN4aAyni258RpkPjSoRNVqXLi4HHCA0jC6woeq5HWMaAhItEALw_wcB

It is wildly inaccurate according to manufacturers recommendations but very repeatable.

So my forks at set to 89 psi. I can set them to 89 psi no problem and easily go to 84 psi or whatever but whatever my pump is saying is absolutely nothing like any other pump.

I hated forking out (ho ho) for an expensive gadget that didn't work right.

After 7 years I've got used to it and it still works the same way it did when I got it.

So sort of recommended as long as you don't mind setting things by sag initially

I find the SP hose's always eventually breaks*, no point in spend $$$$.

Rockshox high pressure pump is my go to.

*you used to be able to buy replacements, but I haven't seen any in ages or they sell for the same cost as a new pump.

I've got one of these Topeak digital ones and it's been decent so far, although only just over a year old

I bought a lezene digital shock pump.

I gave up with time after my second one fell apart within 6 weeks of ownership. They seemed to forget to include a place to actually hold the thing

generic digital for. Mines a Lifeline (so old CRC/Wiggle) but you can just buy whichever brand seems cheapest at that moment

Topeak with its 'no pressure loss' chuck seems good, I'm sure someone will say they are not needed but it helps me not release pressure when removing, used them for years

Might as well be me then.

Shock pumps don’t release pressure from the shock when removing. The rush of air comes from the pressure in the pump as the shock valve has already been closed by that point

Generic digital here. Great for getting exact settings.

Topeak for me. Had it for ages. If I lost it, I’d buy the same model again.

I bought that analog rockshox one and realised the halfords one is exactly the same and cheaper.....too late tho to send the rockshox one back....

It does make me work when I'm getting to big pressures for my rear shock autosag routine

I have 3 cheap Betos, Beto make pumps for loads of other people. They all measure about the same, which is a good sign, and they all just work. I think we're pretty much out of the dark ages here, I don't think there are any quality shocks or forks that need weird fitments or specific pumps any more so anything does the job.

And yep all shock pumps worth owning have zero loss chucks, if they don't, it's not really a shock pump. Everything past that is a gimmick, lossless is almost 100% a brand deciding to try and sell to a false need/customer misunderstanding.

Well except the Lezene digital one. Mine eats batteries, had nowhere to really hold it that doesn't involve crushing the LCD screen and appears to multiply the result of the pressure setting with a random number between 0.5 and 2.5 😉

I use a x-fusion branded version of the Rockshox one.

Ordered a Lezyne Shock Drive. Analogue, 400psi, gets good reviews 👍

Shock pumps don’t release pressure from the shock when removing. The rush of air comes from the pressure in the pump as the shock valve has already been closed by that point

But if you want to check the pressure in the shock then simply connecting a shock pump will give you a lower reading as the air in the shock loses pressure as it fills the pump. So if you know what pressure you set the shock to you can connect the hose, pump the (isolated) shock pump to the right pressure then open the valve in the head and get a better reading of the pressure that was actually in the shock and stop convincing yourself that it's losing pressure. Or just connect the pump and repressurise the shock to the number you first thought of....
