As per the title, what do you guys use in terms of over shoes on a commute. It's an hour each way and total water proof isn't a requirement, neither is use for off road. Some thing to add warmth. No room for thicker socks and not looking for winter boots. 🙂

I have Mavic Tempo overshoes for roadie duties. I don't recommend them. I pulled off one of the Mavic tags the first time I tried to put them on, they are a sod to get on and off, and they aren't wearing particularly well.

When they die I will be buying something different.

your much better than shoes for a commute. I recommend you.

So close... so close. 🙂

I use Endura MT500(?), the road ones, on my 12 mile daily canal towpath commute any time it rains and when needed on non-commute road rides. Thick neoprene keeps things warmish and dryish, the zips burst ages ago but the velcro strap thing at the top is enough. I expect a year of fairly frequent use (I am Scottish) out of a pair, getting them caked in mud and a fair bit of walking, before they disintegrate. The current pair are coming to the end of their second year - the kevlar bits on the sole have worn through but they still do the job.

The XL size fits easily over my size 45 road shoes with spd cleats, slightly awkwardly over road shoes with road cleats and pretty snugly over my size 46 Shimano winter boots with road cleats.

Altura shield excellent, easy to get on/off not overly warm when it's mild. Much prefer them to neoprene stuff for commutes. mt500s for proper winter coldness.
Never heard of surosa before (first google hit) but thats a good price.

mt500 user here - mine are slowly disintegrating - the bottom is breaking up, there are a few holes in the neoprene over the buckles on my Sidis though the zips are still holding up well. They make a world of difference in the cold and wet though and I'll be buying another pair when these finally give up and fall into little pieces...

I use two sets - some cheapo thick neoprene ones which are fine for cold days where they are thick enough to keep the cold out and will keep my feet warm in the event of unexpected rain and a pair of Pro H2O Endure's for when it's defo going to rain and I want to try and keep my feet dry. The Pro's are really nice, thin, warm, reflective and will keep the rain out for ~45 mins of my hour commute even in the worst conditions. They are pricey and toe studs are a no-no....

I got some of those Endura MT500, was disappointed initially when they started falling apart - velcro tab fell off one side and a couple of small rips appeared in the bottom. But then they've held together pretty well from that point, and there're toasty warm.
