I'm off for a slightly impulsive last minute trip to Canada to romance a lovely lady who, it transpires, is coming back to Scotland in a week's time anyway 8) .
Nevertheless, since I'm there and there's a good chance she'll be sick of the sight of me by early next week, I figured I should take a spin somewhere. There's a couple of places offering rental in the city but details are sketchy and they're not answering emails as its Thanksgiving today.
Since I'm not covered for super-gnar north shore and would inevitably crash if I tried it, my options are wheels on the ground XC or some road riding, can anyone suggest decent routes for either?
Thanks
Try Cove Bikes in Deep Cove, it's on the doorstep of the trails. The North Shore isn't just gnarly woodwork, there's some fantastic xc trails in there too, they can sort you out with route maps et al. 8)
Different Bikes in West Vancouver might still have road bikes for rent, but most bike shops will have sold off their rental fleet by now. As for routes, you are pretty limited to riding along the Sea To Sky for a while, and turning around coming back, or going up and down Cypress or Seymour. Despite this, road riding is very popular here so I guess these options must be fun to some people?! In all seriousness, you get some amazing views.
As for mountain biking, one persons FR is another persons XC so it's impossible to suggest routes on the North Shore. If you can make the time, I'd get out to Squamish and get a map / advice from Corsa Cycles or Tantalus.
Cove are no longer in Deep Cove. They are on Main St, North Van.
