I've got a Truvativ Noir at the moment, but I've pulled the threaded insert out three times already and it's only a matter of time before it happens again.
Is there an indestructible carbon crankset I could replace it with, or what bling aluminium ones are there that would look right.

Rotor Rex , http://www.rotoruk.co.uk/rex.html

Beautifully made, reasonably light and as stiff as a Sergeant Major on his wedding night!

I'm running a White Ind Eno on my SS and it's been faultless.

I've got a Rotor 3d on my roadie which is very stiff and well made, so I'd say consider the Rotor MTB cranks.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I should have mentioned it's for the belt drive bike, so it's got to be conventional 4 bolt 104mm BCD to take the pulley.
I try to achieve bling on a budget as well, so I'd prefer to buy second hand if possible.

Older XTR? Not exactly bling, but a better option than most "artisan" nonsense 😉

[img] [/img]

I've got Noirs on one bike and scabrous M970 on the other 2, the Noirs weigh IIRC 3 grams less.

Yes, I had considered XTR as they do seem to be better value for money than the more niche brands, and much more widely available second hand.

It's just that, well, you know, Shimano, it's not very exotic is it ?

One option would be to get them polished and anodised red. 😉

I dunno, it's got a pointless pain-in-the-arse fitting method, that's quite niche.

Really? Bolt on with an 8mm Allen key and adjust the collar...

Can't see the problem with the xtr fitting either.
For me xtr or rs8 on the bikes I use the most

Tried race face ( always seemed to creak )
Quite like the older xt hollow tech ones too bottom brackets last ages

Just fitted some xx1 arms to the full sus bike but to soon to see if they survive ok

What's wrong with something like a Middleburn RS8? Not bling enough?

As above. C'dale arms are about as aluminium gets.
