You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
A friend of mine just spent a year training for the Celtman (3km open water swim, 200km bike, marathon over a mountain) and kicked ass doing it. Very impressive and inspired me to do something 'quite big'.
So it comes that I'm looking for a good personal challenge, most likely involving a mountain bike. Something I need to train hard for (80km+/day), that will be actually good fun for at least some of the time, and isn't hideously expensive. I'm imagining something 4-8 days without too much hike-a-bike, probably in some proper mountains and probably abroad.
What 'classic challenges' are out there? Organised events or classic routes? Stage races?
Your ideas sought!
Thanks, Bob 🙂
Do you want to do it for personal achievement, or do you want the t-shirt? If the former, take a look at Self Supported UK
I can personally recommend the Highland Trail 400 (despite not finishing it) and the Cairngorm Loop, which is a fantastic ITT with not too much hike a bike.
Both are free to do - just follow a GPX whenever you want.
Thanks, good resource
I've ridden the WHW S to N in 2 days and loved it. Considering the HT400 but also looking to dodge the midges for a wee bit!
