How soft are the ESI's? Are they the same density all the way through?

I like the idea of a nice soft outer bit, but not something that compresses and twists easily.

they are soft all the way through and if installed properly won't compress and twist

Ritchey WCS True Grip - this - soft, comfortable, not expensive and very light. I used to use Good n Evils, but switched to these after trying a mate's bike with them fitted and liking the feel. I can imagine some people will find them way too soft, but I get on with them for longer rides.

BWD I used to use those years ago on my Mt Vision Pro,I'll give them a go I think, while I'm waiting for on-one to get the ESIs back in stock.

I love my ESIs and don't begrudge the price but, I would say they can be delicate- crashes can tear them up. Still, they are very good, even the skinniest ones have more squish to them than any lockon I can remember using.

Couple of wraps of foam bar tape can be comfy, something like cinelli cork is fairly firm, specialized a bit softer.

Another vote for ESI here, even the racers edge are more comfortable then anything else, but chunky feel like free suspension!
