Need to grab a skullcap preferably merino wool to keep the windchill off my baldy head.

You're just asking about this now?!? It's already March!

Sorry I can't help beyond that.

You mean skullcaps aren't all created equally?

Buff?
I'm sure I've got a few freebie MBUK ones knocking about somewhere.

I have a Mavic one which I like but I prefer ones that are not too bulky/warm I had an Altura one that was too toasty for my liking.

Just use a Buff, doubled over

(About 1:12 but there's an easier way to do it)

Buff microfibre hat. It is double layer, so fairly warm. And reversible if you want a different colour.

Its less faff than folding a regular Buff over. If I do that, I usually end up with a hole at the top, or it is too short to cover my ears.

Merino buffs are longer than the standard ones. If anything, too long to double over as a skullcap (though one could be easily shortened.)

To keep the wind off you'll need a windproof one, my Sealskins one is essential winter wear.

Agreed; the only downside to mine is that I receive the occasional Lord Melchett comparison w.o. helmet.

I've got an Endura one, as above it has received several comments, the one that made me chuckle the most was the one that it made me look like the Scribe from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves,

It bloody does the job though, I've got a full heed of hair but it's come in handy over the fast few weeks,

I find skull caps to hot for my hairless bonce. Something like a WindStopper head band and ear warmer suits be better for road riding.

I bought a Giro headband just over a week ago all the stitching fell out of one of the seams the first time I washed it.
The LBS is getting me a replacement, I hope it's a one off. 😕

I find skull caps way too hot and annoying over the types of my ears.

A buff works perfectly for me.

All the club kids are wearing Grip Grab ones. V toasty apparently. I put some gaffa tape over the front vents instead.

This is my bald man's cap of choice.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Headsweats-Skullcap-Ryl-Hat/dp/B00QNZMFU4?th=1&psc=1

keeps the chill off in winter and the sweat and sunburn at bay in summer.
