My wife is getting into road biking and needs to get a new bike. She will use it mainly for Sunday cafe runs but also she's doing a tri soon and maybe a sportive or two. The budget is about £300 - £500 (but nearer the £300 end!). She's seen the Decathlon Triban 3 at £300 which looks ok but what else could she look at? Anyone care to recommend me anything?
Ta.

Just ordered one of these for my other half, http://www.bikeoutlet.co.uk/products/Claud_Butler_Roubaix_Gents_2011-1346-0.html
in 50cm... searched for ages including 2nd hand but eventually stumbled on this. spec wise it seems like a bargain for the money. Should arrive tomorrow hopefully...
She is 5'3" and according to shop, this should be a perfect fit, we shall see

Ebay is your friend here. I've bought nice second hand bikes for 2 friends off there in the past for around that budget. Got a Spesh Allez for about £340 and a Orbea for about £240 ( was a good find, finished late at night and I got lucky).

I will almost always tell someone to go second hand on a budget under £500.

Those are just to give you an idea, took me 10 min 🙂
If you are in no rush get the missus into a bike shop and get an idea what size bike she needs and then narrow your search down on the Bay. I did a search for 52" bikes as an example.
