Thinking about trading in my Ti456 and replacing it with a lightweight race ready 29er HT.

Anybody got any recommendations?

Potentially it'll be ridden around the Chilterns/trail centres but more importantly for local XC races and off road duathlons.

Thanks.

I'd hope to place similarly to the tri's I do. So top 5%.

Budget depends on how much a Ti456 is worth. With some savings I could potentially spend £1.5k.

Does anyone have experience of Lapierre's offerings?

You can gt an XTC Composite for that money, brilliant frame with component offerings to suit most budgets

I purchased one after trying it along with a bunch of others and not only is it quick but is also good fun when compared to some of it's competitors!

Have a look at KTM's offerings. I hate 29ers but their carbon frames are a thing of beauty

I'll second this.. my LBS have a carbon Myroon in and it looks fantastic - nice angles and lots of mud clearance too. Don't know how they ride though..

+1 for Canyon.

Hope cycling is your strongest discipline - the standard in all the tri's I've done has been dire compared to XC racing!

As a triathlete => XTT => MTBer, I can vouch for that!!! MTB racers (IMO) are much fitter (and skilled?) than the average tri cyclists!! 😉

I am toying with same question and waiting for a bit of dry weather to test 29 XC FS (Anthem) vs 29 XC HT (XTC composite)

Cheers for the tips people. I used to have a 26" composite XTC which I really liked.

Neither fitness or skill are something I'm concerned about, but thanks, it's always good to have a reason to train harder.

Not sure on the prices but for sorted geometry, Cannondales F29 in carbon or Ally are spot on. I'd also say good things about Giants XTCs, also consider similar from Specialized. When checking out specs, consider the wheel tyre combo. Makes an even bigger difference than you might first think.

I recently purchased an Epic Comp 29er from the very nice chaps at Bike Scene.

Fantastic bike, fantastic service at an amazing price, very happy with mine and I can’t recommend it enough!
