So, off up to Dumfries to kip over the Saturday night to get 2 days riding around Mabie/Ae/Dalbeattie.

Can anyone recommend a campsite in the area that would be suitable? (Preferably near a pub!)

Somewhere where I can be parked next to tent (bikes + one in car, others in tent).

Cheers!

Try Gorsebank . We stayed in one of their timber wigwams in August for 3 days to do some of the stanes . Dalbeattie stane starts just across the back field from there . It's reasonably priced and the facilities are excellent on site . The wigwam was really warm and had fridge , microwave , heater etc .

Gorsebank just outside Dalbeattie. Stopped in the Jumbo Pods , can't remember if you can pitch your own tent there or not. Worth a call though.

The campsite at Kippford near Dalbeattie is ok but expensive. The pub in the village is excellent though.

We had a great stay in the Huntingdon house hotel. Really friendly owner, bike storage and walkable into town. We'd definitely stay again.

Great, Thats really useful, I am noticing that Scotland doesn't do low-season camping - or atleast Dumfries doesnt!!

Those wooden tents at Gorsebank look canny though.

Appreciated, any more suggestions welcome!
