Currently got a Berghaus Vapour Storm, from a PSA on here.

Was about £70 I think. Anyway, it's too big now, and has no hand pockets, otherwise it's perfect, so what's out there, under £100?

what sort of waterproofness do you need?

couple of hours? totally waterproof? wind resistant? windproof? any thermal properties?

Waterproof wise - few hours, totally would be nice.

Windproof, if poss, but resistant acceptable, not worried about thermal, prefer to layer up.

A smaller vapour storm with some pockets would be ideal......

Should add, primarily for biking, but also needs to be useable off the bike, hence the pockets.

I have never owned a good waterproof before, but I got one of these last September and it seems decent http://www.sherpaadventuregear.co.uk/mens-c1/thame-stretch-jacket-tista-river-p439

Have worn it approximately five times, a couple of times on the road bike, and it's been perfect.

Madison addict 3 layer one is good. Very waterproof, OK breathability, has vents hood and pockets and decent price.

Anything waterproof is also windproof.

I've recently picked up a Montane trailblazer. Really nice stretchy fabric pair of pockets on the chest that double up as vents and a hood that can be well adjusted. Packs down pretty small and not stiff and rustly like waterproofs can be. I recommend it.

I got an Altura Attack cheap a couple of years ago and never yet felt the need to change it, as it's been the best jacket I've had - waterproof, breathable, huge vents, pockets. Not sure what the current range is like though.

I've got the poo brown one and it recently stood up to a pretty grotty day at BPW...

i need a new waterproof jacket. my endura one is still going strong after 16 years but my berghaus gore tex jacket is looking very tired now as is the adidas gtx paclite shell. both of them are starting to de-laminate in places.
for the time being i've bought one of the cheap waterproof jackets from aldi for £16...i dont know how waterproof the jacket is as it seems to have stopped raining since i bought it on sunday!!

Doesn't exist, tried to order from 2 places including Freeborn and both cancelled order and stated its being discontinued.

In true STW fashion im going to recommend what I have , now ive also got an Acrytex Gamma and a Haglofs jacket both for walking so didn't fancied using them on the bike I took a punt on one of these http://www.decathlon.co.uk/forclaz-400-mens-waterproof-jacket-black-id_8302503.html

Wore it again on Sunday around the Peaks in lashing down rain and I stayed bone dry

Fantastic bit of kit

I have a vapour storm and an original Altura Attack as well as an Altura Mayhem.

Vapour storm - my favourite jacket (BTW if you have a size XL that needs a new home, pm me 😉 )

The original Altura Attack is my ride jacket at home. Its tough, waterproof, quite a thick shell though. Rear pocket is too small but other pockets and zips have held up well. Probably about 30% more "substantial" than the vapour storm.

The Mayhem I got v cheap. Not that impressed with it. Material is heavier than the Attack, yes its waterproof, but not quite as flexible. Detachable hood mechanism is shit and the hood size/cut is all wrong too.

Id stick to the vapour storm and get better shorts with pockets in personally 🙂

I bought a Keela Saxon on the back of this ST review.

I liked that Keela Saxon and had a shot of the test one. I ended up with with the Madison Flux one though, on sale here I prefer it to the Keela and can't really fault it at all
