Unfortunately my Hope Pro 4 hub decided to give up the ghost today. Its actually split the hub from a spoke hole on the DS, down into the hub shell and in towards the centre by about 20mm. I've been using a Hope boost kit, but cant see as that's caused the issue.
Anyway, I now need a new rear wheel. Rim is Hope DH, but is a tad battered so going for complete wheel. Needs to be Black Boost Hope Hub, but which rim to pair it with.
I've looked at the New Hope Fourtus 30, Flows and DT swiss, but non the wiser as to which to get.
I'd be after an Enduro/DH capable rim, not too fussed about weight but would like it to be 32 hole, 27mm to 30mm internal width and bias to being strong.
Cheers
Carlos
I’d drop Hope a line in the first instance. They are renowned for their customer service so may come good.
Check warranty etc first for sure.
Does it have to be a Hope hub - DT Swiss hubs are really reliable generally - 350 or 240?
Rim wise I’d go DT EX511. 30mm internal and really strong without being crazy heavy. They do make a stronger rim again (FR560) but that gets a bit weighty / is more than most people need.
ive bought 2 hope fortus 30 wheelsets this winter, one 650b and one 29er, they have been bulitproof. the 650 has seen a lot of action on the hardtail and is still running perfectly true. they are a bit weighty but i value strength over a few grams weight saving.
The Fortus 30 is heavy but really strong. I’ve seen one come away unharmed from a serious case at the big step up at Wind Hill. Other wheels have completely crumpled with the same treatment.

As above, contact Hope.
Additionally, tri-sport resort regularly have single wheels in their ebay shop so that might be worth a look; they don't offer buy-it-now as everything runs to the auction end.
I'm running a Fortus 30 with Pro 4 on a SolarisMAX and I certainly wouldn't call it bulletproof. Definitely has a wobble on already. A damn sight less strong than the Deemax Pro i had on my previous bike ... but a lot cheaper too I guess. I'd be looking at a DT Swiss given the E 1900 my mate rides with on the same trails on a Nordest Bardino has lasted better.
+1 EX511
I was in a similar position and went for a dt ex471
If it’s was good enough to survive Aaron Gwin with out a tyre I though it would be good enough for my delicate riding style 😀
It’s been fine for me including 10 days in whistler. I’ve had to true it but it was the first wheel I’ve ever built from scratch.
My front rim didn’t survive whistler, and was rebuilt with a dt fr560. I swear I made the whole bike feel heavier. Realistically that is just the power of suggestion. This one was built by a mechanic in whistler and is cheerfully spinning with no problems.
Quick update - Wasn't expecting it but Hope are going to send me out a new hub (thumbs up). I've looked into the EX511's some more and they do seam to tick all the boxes. I'll get two rims and have the front built onto existing hub to match.
Anyone know of any deals on the EX511's?
Or sell the hope hub and get a the DT E 1900 wheelset for about £180 (similar strength to EX511?)
Can be upgraded to a ratchet 54t freehub if you want more than 24 pt engagement.
The e1900 wheelset has Dt 370 hubs so can’t be upgraded to the ratchet system. It has 2 or 3 pawls generally, depending if they are aftermarket or OE. That hub is not comparable to a Hope Pro 4. The 350 is the same level as the Hope. I think the e1900 rim is also heavier and made of a less good material than the ex511 rim. Although it’s decent for the price as I have a set on my hardtail that have lapped up the abuse.
Starbike in Germany often have the best prices on DT Swiss rims - that’s where I got my XM481’s from. They came with PHR washers and Squorx nipples.
Wrong - you can convert it and it's basically the same as the 350 otherwise
