can anyone recommend me a internal cable routing tool at all? dont really want to pay park tool prices (unless it 100% works every time!)

currently a pain in the ass on current frame for dropper cable and gear outer ( have tried all the usual tricks, its a pain, and albeit i get there eventually its pissing me off when it should just go in and pop out, so i want to take away the stress and do it in a minute flat!)

have seen various other ones that look like mini tools but not sure if they work as well?

any input appreciated!

I've got this one.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32953017215.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dvoqHNs

It has saved me a lot of frustration.

I used to work as a mechanic and we’d go through the Park Tool ones frequently as the rubber cap to fit over a hydro hose would tear - sometimes after 1-2 jobs. Sometimes it was quicker to just push the hose through and hook it out with a bent spoke. Aero bikes like Venges were a nightmare - it could sometimes take 3-4 hours to fit the hoses through the frame, forks , stem and bars, trim and bleed.

I’ve got a cheap neodymium magnet. Use a screw tied to a string and pull that through with the magnet. Then tie the string to the cable and pull it through
Cheap alternative to a kit

Have read a few things on the park one wearing out quickly, not great for the money involved albeit won’t be in a workshop environment

There’s a xtools one or similar on wiggle but it gets mixed reviews but maybe worth a punt

The Ali express looks cracking for the money but need it before the month long delivery times sadly

I’m no good at man making stuff 😆 I prefer to just buy off the shelf, wish i had it in me but don’t sadly

I recently purchased the Park tools kit as I was struggling with cabling my dropper post. What a difference. The cable went through no problem. Very happy with the kit. Although the rubber caps are soft and I can imagine they wouldn’t last long in a bike shop workshop. Absolutely fine for my occasional use I think.

Buy a tandem gear cable and cut off nipple. Powerful magnet and hook to get it routed, then thread cable outer over cable. You have to have the longest gear cable possible so the cable outer threads on and gear cable had exited before it enters frame, to you can hold both ends of the cable taught as you push outer through.
